About Flexport:

At Flexport, we believe global trade can move the human race forward. That’s why it’s our mission to make global commerce so easy there will be more of it. We’re shaping the future of a $10T industry with solutions powered by innovative technology and exceptional people. Today, companies of all sizes—from emerging brands to Fortune 500s—use Flexport technology to move more than $19B of merchandise across 112 countries a year.

The recent global supply chain crisis has put Flexport center stage as we continue to play a pivotal role in how goods move around the world. We are proud to have the support of the best investors in the game who believe in our mission, solutions and people. Ready to tackle global challenges that impact business, society, and the environment? Come join us.

The Opportunity

Join our engineering team in Bellevue building and enhancing Flexport’s client-facing rates platform and self-serve freight booking experience. You will work alongside experienced engineers and have direct ownership of features that move the company from an assisted-sales model to a tech-run one for the long tail of our client base.

This team owns two of the highest-leverage surfaces in the Client App: how clients see pricing and how they book without manual intervention. Rates sit at the center of every freight decision, and you will build the systems that power rate visibility, quoting, and pricing intelligence across our ocean business. You will also help build the infrastructure that integrates AI-powered automation into the booking flow. This is a rare opportunity to build the "front door" of an $8.6 trillion industry, turning the complexity of global trade into a seamless digital experience for thousands of shippers.

You Will

Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain systems within a microservices architecture that power rate visibility and autonomous booking.

Own the entire lifecycle of a feature: from database schema design and scalable backend APIs to building the React-based frontend applications our customers use.

Support the integration of AI models and automated workflows to make the pricing and booking experience increasingly intelligent.

Collaborate with engineering, product, and design to translate complex business problems into elegant, production-ready technical solutions.

Contribute to code reviews to maintain high quality standards, share knowledge, and mentor peer engineers.

Build highly available, secure, and distributed systems that can scale with Flexport’s global volume.

Rapidly build and launch products incrementally, leveraging best practices around CI/CD and shipping to production dozens of times per day.

Ensure high-quality standards by incorporating metrics, monitoring, and applying learnings from post-mortems to all services.

You Should Have

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

3+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping production-grade applications.

Full-Stack Capability: You are comfortable owning a feature from end-to-end: working with databases, backend services (Java/Ruby), and frontend frameworks (React).

Technical Rigor: A passion for simple, well-tested code that is easy to extend and hard to break.

AI Familiarity: Experience or interest in working with AI APIs and building software that leverages machine learning models to automate user tasks.

2+ years of design and architecture knowledge as well as familiarity with object-oriented analysis and design patterns.

Proficiency with modern programming languages: specifically Java, Ruby, or TypeScript.

Proficiency with deploying, monitoring, and maintaining production services on cloud infrastructure (AWS).

It’s a Plus If You Have

Experience with elements of our tech stack: Java, Spring Boot, Ruby on Rails, React, AWS.

Experience in fintech, pricing engines, or booking systems.

Experience in logistics, supply chain, or freight technology.

A bias for action: When you see a problem, you fix it.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills: you can convey technical ideas in common terms to business stakeholders and product managers.

Ready to tackle global challenges that impact business, society, and the environment? Come join us.

Software Engineer ll: Platform

Every engineer at Flexport ships code that moves real freight across 112 countries. The faster and safer they can do that, the faster the world's supply chains move. The PSI (Platform, Security & Infrastructure) team makes this possible: we build the paved path and tooling that hundreds of engineers around the world rely on every day to ship.

As a Software Engineer II, you'll own well-scoped projects within our developer platform, typically working with a small group of teammates. You'll talk to the engineers who use our tools, dogfood the platform, and build a solid understanding of the problems and goals behind your work. Then you'll design and ship improvements that remove friction. You'll get support and guidance from senior engineers on the team while building real ownership of your projects from start to finish.

What You'll Do

You'll own projects within, and help evolve, the developer platform that powers Flexport engineering. That means:

Building paved paths and self-serve tooling that make the right thing the easy thing.

Building and supporting CI/CD pipelines (Buildkite, GitHub Actions), build tooling (Gradle, Bazel, npm/pnpm/bun, Go and Cargo) and artifact repositories (Artifactory, ECR, GitHub).

Improving the backend and frontend developer experience through projects you scope and deliver.

Contributing to our GraphQL and gRPC ecosystem: middleware, federation and schema sharing, CLIs, codegen, servers and clients.

Contributing to our IAM solutions and primitives so that things are easy and secure by default.

Helping engineers use and understand our container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS) and observability stack (OpenMetrics, Datadog), so they can run, understand and debug their services.

Gathering feedback from internal users, turning it into clear problem statements, and working with your team to prioritize what's worth building.

You Should Have

2-5 years of software engineering experience, ideally including time spent on developer platforms, internal tooling, or infrastructure that other engineers depend on.

Full-stack curiosity: you're comfortable in a backend service and are building comfort across frontend build pipelines, Kubernetes manifests, and CI configuration.

Hands-on experience with some of: a CI/CD system (GitHub Actions preferred), a container orchestrator (Kubernetes preferred), build tooling (more than one language is a plus), backend-for-frontend (GraphQL preferred), service-to-service communication (gRPC preferred), metrics, or artifact storage. You don't need all of them. You should be ready to learn the rest.

A good grasp of problems and goals: you ask the right questions, understand who you're building for and why, and can explain how your work connects to broader team goals.

Care for internal users: you treat engineers as customers, gather feedback, and check whether what you shipped actually helped.

Ownership of your projects: you take a project from idea to production rollout, keep stakeholders informed, and raise risks early.

Pride in fixing what's broken: you tackle tech debt in your area and help carry out migrations, with guidance on larger or cross-team efforts.

Good communication: you can write a clear design doc for your project, take part in developer interviews, and keep your teammates up to date.

A helpful attitude: you're the person who gets people unblocked and makes their work easier.

Growth mindset: you seek out feedback, learn quickly, and are building toward broader scope and impact over time.

Nice to Have

Exposure to data-driven DevX development using metrics such as DORA.

Experience with AWS.

Familiarity with Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts such as JWTs, OIDC and fine-grained authorization.

Experience with Terraform.

How We Work

We come to the office 3 times a week to hang out, whiteboard, and ship together.

We have the latest hardware and software, including frontier AI models on day one.

We're agile, but not dogmatic. Teams decide how they work best.

Why This Role Is Special

Real leverage: improvements you ship are used by hundreds of engineers and thousands of deploys a day.

Meaningful ownership: you own your projects end to end, from developer research to production rollout to measuring impact.

Room to grow: you'll work alongside senior engineers, get regular feedback, and build the skills to take on larger-scope work.

What's in it for you:

An opportunity to contribute to one of the fastest-growing companies, where you’ll have the chance to create a global impact while being a part of a thriving multinational environment.

Daily catered lunches incl. vegetarian options, breakfast, snacks and soft drinks available in our office on daily basis.

Commute expenses: Flexport will cover home-office commuting costs for employees living outside of Amsterdam.

25 working days as vacation days based on full time employment.

Health insurance: Flexport offers a collective health insurance plan including a basic package and any available additional packages. Your monthly premium is fully paid by Flexport.

A defined pension contribution scheme.

Equity program: every team member becomes a shareholder, aligning our success with yours. As a private company in a multi-trillion dollar industry, you have a direct stake in our collective growth and success.

Employee Assistance Program through Aetna Resources for Living: Flexport provides an employer-sponsored program at no cost to you and your household members.

Parental leave benefit: Flexport is here to support you and your families in one of the most important times in life – the birth of a child! Our parental leave program allows both mothers and partners to take time off from work for pregnancy, childbirth, and to bond with your new child.

Senior Software Engineer

The opportunity:

We're looking for a Staff Product Manager to own and drive strategy across a product domain at Flexport. This is not a single-feature role. You will define the vision for how multiple product surfaces work together to serve clients and operators across global logistics, then execute against that vision with a high degree of autonomy.

Flexport's platform powers every stage of global freight, from booking and pricing to visibility, customs, and delivery. The products you shape will be used daily by logistics managers, supply chain leaders, freight operators, and internal teams who keep goods moving around the world. You will work across multiple engineering teams and coordinate with other PMs to ensure your domain delivers cohesive, measurable outcomes. You will also raise the bar for the PM team through mentorship, better frameworks, and sharper thinking on the hardest product problems we face.

This is a role for someone with deep product experience, strong analytical instincts, and the ability to operate at both the strategic and execution level in a complex, data-rich environment.

The team:

The Commerce team owns the end-to-end quality, automation, and profitability of Flexport’s commerce domain. We build intelligent agents to automate critical commerce workflows, including quoting, billing, and invoicing, while driving cost intelligence across every shipment process gate to optimize profitability. Additionally, our team expands the marketplace catalog for new offerings and develops next-generation, client-facing commerce products and payments technology.

You will:

Define and drive product strategy across the Commerce domain that spans multiple teams, user types, or workflow stages

Build intelligent AI agents to automate core commerce operations, including quoting, billing, and invoicing

Own the end-to-end roadmap: identifying the highest-leverage problems, sequencing investment, and making clear trade-off recommendations to leadership

Partner with Engineering, Design, Sales, Operations, and other product teams to align priorities and ship integrated experiences across surfaces

Collaborate closely across a global footprint with engineering teams in the West Coast US and China, participating in regular cross-border syncs

Use data to set direction, not just measure results. Building metrics frameworks that connect product usage to business outcomes and using them to guide investment decisions across your domain

Break down ambiguous, cross-cutting problems into concrete product plans that multiple teams can execute against

Represent your domain in leadership forums, influencing resource allocation and strategic direction

Mentor PMs on the team: improving how we write specs, prioritize, communicate trade-offs, and ship

You should have:

8+ years of product management experience

Demonstrated ability to own a product domain (not just a feature or single product area) and lead product roadmaps spanning 2 to 3 years across multiple engineering teams

Strong analytical and quantitative skills. You build metrics frameworks, write your own queries, and use data to settle debates. SQL proficiency required

A track record of shipping products in data-dense, complex domains where the user workflow spans multiple steps or systems

Experience aligning multiple cross-functional teams (engineering, design, operations, commercial) around a shared roadmap when priorities compete

Proven ability to operate at the strategy level (where should we invest, and why) and the execution level (what ships this quarter, and what does "done" look like) in the same week

Excellent written and verbal communication, especially the ability to frame trade-offs, present recommendations to senior leadership, and create clarity in ambiguous situations

Experience mentoring or leading other PMs, formally or informally

Experience with B2B workflow software, supply chain platforms, or logistics technology is a plus

We are proud to have the support of the best investors in the game who believe in our mission, solutions and people. Ready to tackle global challenges that impact business, society, and the environment? Come join us.

Senior Software Engineer: Applied AI

Every day, thousands of shipments cross borders, change hands, and hit unexpected problems. For decades, fixing those problems meant phone calls, emails, and humans heroically firefighting. We think that's about to change completely.

We've been building AI agents that spot trouble before it happens, reroute shipments, and keep goods moving—with our team of experts in the loop where it counts. The early results have been jaw-dropping. We're now going all in on a future where supply chains run themselves, and we're looking for the people who want to build that future with us.

This isn't a role where you join a team and pick up tickets. You'll find the highest-leverage problems, design the solutions, and ship them to operators moving freight across 112 countries. If that sounds like your idea of a good time, read on.

What You'll Do

You'll build the cutting-edge agents and AI-powered applications that make Flexport's operations smarter, faster, and increasingly autonomous. That means:

Designing and shipping end-to-end AI agents that handle real logistics work—customs compliance, document processing, exception management, and more.

Crossing organizational boundaries to understand problems deeply, align stakeholders, and get things done without waiting for permission.

Moving fast from idea to production, treating every deployment as a learning opportunity.

Working directly with operators, domain experts, and leadership to turn ambiguous problems into shipped solutions.

You Should Have

5+ years of software engineering experience; you've built with LLMs extensively - whether in production, side projects, or just because you couldn't stop yourself.

Strong product instincts: you can identify what's worth building, not just execute on a spec.

LLM fluency: agent patterns, RAG, prompt engineering, tool use, evaluation. You know what works in production and what looks good in demos.

Full-stack capability in TypeScript and Next.js - you can own a feature end-to-end.

An entrepreneurial drive: you thrive in ambiguity, move fast, and don't wait to be told what to do.

Excellent communication: you can work across teams and disciplines to get alignment and unblock yourself.

An audacious appetite for impact: you're not here to maintain—you're here to change how global trade works.

Nice to Have

Experience with workflow orchestration (Temporal, etc.).

Experience building internal tools or operator-facing applications.

How We Work

We come to the office 3 times a week to hang out, whiteboard, and ship together.

We have the latest hardware and software—including frontier AI models on day one.

We're agile, but not dogmatic. Teams decide how they work best.

Stack: Next.js, TypeScript, Postgres, Snowflake. For AI: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google AI APIs.

Why This Role Is Special

Your work is visible: This is a small, senior team reporting directly to the VP of Engineering. What you build gets noticed, and your ideas shape the direction.

Real stakes: thousands of containers, 112 countries, $19 billion of goods. Your agents will have immediate, measurable impact.

Full ownership: from problem definition to production deployment, it's yours.

You're early: the playbook for applied AI in enterprise logistics doesn't exist yet - you'll help write it.

What's in it for you?

An opportunity to contribute to one of the fastest-growing companies, where you’ll have the chance to create a global impact while being a part of a thriving multinational environment

Daily catered lunches incl. vegetarian options, breakfast, snacks and soft drinks available in our office on daily basis

Commute expenses: Flexport will cover home-office commuting costs for employees living outside of Amsterdam

25 working days as vacation days based on full time employment.

Health insurance: Flexport offers a collective health insurance plan including a basic package and any available additional packages. Your monthly premium is fully paid by Flexport.

A defined pension contribution scheme

Equity program: every team member becomes a shareholder, aligning our success with yours. As a private company in a multi-trillion dollar industry, you have a direct stake in our collective growth and success.

Employee Assistance Program through Aetna Resources for Living: Flexport provides an employer-sponsored program at no cost to you and your household members

Parental leave benefit: Flexport is here to support you and your families in one of the most important times in life – the birth of a child! Our parental leave program allows both mothers and partners to take time off from work for pregnancy, childbirth, and to bond with your new child.

Senior Software Engineer: Platform

Every engineer at Flexport ships code that moves real freight across 112 countries. The faster and safer they can do that, the faster the world's supply chains move. The PSI (Platform, Security & Infrastructure) team makes this possible: we build the paved path and tooling that hundreds of engineers around the world rely on every day to ship.

This is not a role where you wait for tickets. You'll talk to engineers, dogfood our platform, and find the friction that's slowing us down, and then design and ship the tools to remove that.

What You'll Do

You'll own and evolve the developer platform that powers Flexport engineering. That means:

Making the best paved paths and self-serve tooling possible that make the right thing the easy thing.

Creating and supporting developers with CI/CD pipelines (Buildkit, Github Actions), build tooling (Gradle, Bazel, npm/pnpm/bun, Go and Cargo) and artifact repositories (Artifactory, ECR, github).

Owning and improving the backend and frontend developer experience.

Acting as the steward of our GraphQL and gRPC ecosystem and make sure our middleware, federation and schema sharing, CLIs, codegen and servers and clients work smooth as butter.

Evolving and integrating our IAM solutions and primitives so that everything is easy and secure by default.

Making sure engineers can easily use and understand our container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS) and observability stack (Openmetrics, Datadog) that engineers rely on to run, understand and debug their services.

You Should Have

5+ years of software engineering experience, with time spent building developer platforms, or internal tooling that other engineers depend on.

Deep full-stack instincts: you're equally comfortable in a backend service, a frontend build pipeline, a Kubernetes manifest, and a CI configuration.

Strong product instincts applied to internal users: you treat engineers as customers, identify what's actually worth building, and measure whether it worked.

Expertise and hands on experience with several of: a CI/CD system (Github Actions preferred), a container orchestrator (Kubernetes preferred), build tooling preferably for more than one language, backend-for-frontend (Graphql preferred), service-to-service communication (gRPC preferred), Metrics and artifact storage.

You take pride in solving tech debt and fixing what’s broken: you’ll either fix it, or if a migration is needed you either execute them yourself or make them feel effortless.

An independent mindset: you thrive in ambiguity, find the highest-leverage problems yourself, and don't wait to be told what to do.

Excellent communication: you can run a developer interview, write a clear design doc, and make sure everyone understands what’s going on.

A generally helpful attitude. Everyone should know you within no-time as the person who gets stuff unblocked, points them in the right direction and makes their work easier.

A drive for impact: you are not satisfying until every engineer is productive and confident thanks to your team.

Nice to Have

Experience in data-driven DevX development using metrics such as DORA.

Experience with AWS.

Experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM) at scale such as JWTs, OIDC and fine-grained authorization.

Experience with Terraform.

How We Work

We come to the office 3 times a week to hang out, whiteboard, and ship together.

We have the latest hardware and software, including frontier AI models on day one.

We're agile, but not dogmatic. Teams decide how they work best.

Why This Role Is Special

Massive leverage: every improvement you ship is multiplied across hundreds of engineers and thousands of deploys a day.

Full ownership: from developer research to production rollout to measuring impact, it's yours.

You shape the paved path: the conventions you set and decisions you make become how Flexport engineering builds for years to come.

What's in it for you:

An opportunity to contribute to one of the fastest-growing companies, where you’ll have the chance to create a global impact while being a part of a thriving multinational environment.
