AI has compressed discovery, but it has not made software easier to buy. Buyers now spend more time evaluating than researching, face a higher burden of proof, and increasingly start with an AI assistant before they ever reach a review site. G2 has the data, the reviews, and the audience to be the trusted place where that decision gets made. We need a product leader to build the experience. As Principal Product Manager, Buyer Products, you will own the buyer experience across G2.com, G2.ai, and our Capterra, Software Advice, and GetApp properties. This is a consumer-grade product role inside a B2B marketplace, with a GM mindset: you are accountable for the business outcome, not a feature backlog. Your charter is to turn anonymous traffic into known, returning buyers, and to turn those buyers into the highest-quality demand in B2B software. This is a senior individual-contributor role for a builder who sets the strategy, ships in the product alongside Engineering and Design, and raises the bar for the PMs around them.
In This Role, You Will:
Strategy and Roadmap

Own the product vision, roadmap, and operating metrics for Buyer Products. Make clear bets, sequence them, and say what we will not build.

Start from the buyer. Obsess over what helps someone make a confident software decision, and treat their trust as the long-term asset.

Make business tradeoffs when they matter. Understand how the buyer experience supports G2's business, and work with Marketing, Sales, Finance, and monetization teams to balance buyer value against revenue.

Build and Ship

Lead discovery, define requirements, and drive delivery with Engineering and Design. Prototype, write specs, and ship changes yourself with AI-native tools where it creates speed.

Run a high-cadence experimentation program. Define hypotheses, read results, and make ship, iterate, or kill decisions quickly with Data Science and Analytics.

Work in small, AI-enabled squads with a bias toward shipping and learning over planning.

Buyer Insight

Be the company's expert on how buyers research and evaluate software, including how AI assistants change that process. Run continuous qualitative and quantitative research, including with senior buyers.

Translate buyer signals into product decisions and a clear narrative for the executive team.

Leadership

Align Product, Engineering, Design, Data, Marketing, and Revenue teams around one buyer strategy.

Mentor PMs, help set the hiring bar, and shape how the PM organization operates.

Minimum Qualifications:
We realize applying for jobs can feel daunting at times. Even if you don’t check all the boxes in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway.

10+ years of product management experience, including Principal- or lead-level ownership of a major consumer-facing product.

B2B SaaS experience, with a clear understanding of how buyers research, evaluate, and purchase software and how vendors go to market.

A GM mindset. You have owned a P&L, a business line, or a growth number, and you make decisions on business impact.

A record of shipping consumer-grade products at scale: growth, personalization, search and discovery, or marketplace experiences where the product had to earn adoption on its own.

0-to-1 experience. You have launched or scaled a new product or category from concept through growth.

Strong product taste and craft. You can critique a design, set a quality bar, and know the difference between good and finished.

Fluency with data and experimentation. You use metrics, A/B tests, and closed-loop reporting to make high-stakes decisions.

AI-native working style. You use AI tools daily to research, prototype, analyze, and ship, and you have a point of view on how AI changes discovery and evaluation.

Excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders in ambiguous environments.

What Can Help Your Application Stand Out:

Experience with a two-sided marketplace, review or UGC platform, media or content-led product, or a data and insights product.

Experience growing logged-in or registered user bases and building lifecycle, personalization, or recommendation systems.

Experience designing for AI assistants, agents, or MCP and similar integrations.

Experience mentoring senior PMs.

Our Commitment to Inclusivity and DiversityAt G2, we are committed to creating an inclusive and diverse environment where people of every background can thrive and feel welcome. We are looking for a Principal Product Manager who combines technical expertise with strong business acumen to help grow our Data Solutions business and lead the ecosystem of APIs, integrations, partner capabilities, and MCP- and agent-enabled workflows that brings G2 data to market. You will own the product strategy and roadmap that supports four broader business goals: Data Solutions revenue and pipeline growth; customer MCP adoption and usage; expansion of MCP surface area through partners; and integration cleanup and migration. Your contribution will vary by goal—sometimes through direct ownership of product capabilities and migration work, and sometimes through close partnership with commercial, Partnerships, Data, and Engineering leaders. This is a senior individual-contributor role for someone who can lead product strategy and work directly with code. You should be able to translate business use cases into technical builds, prototype API or MCP integrations and ship targeted code when that is the fastest way to validate an approach or unblock delivery while engineering remains accountable for production architecture, quality, reliability, and sustained implementation.
In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For:
Ecosystem Strategy and Product Architecture

Own the strategy and roadmap for how G2 data is exposed and activated through APIs, MCP, strategic integrations, and developer and partner surfaces.

Own the integration hub service, developer portal, and public-facing surfaces used by Marketing Solutions customers, Data Solutions customers, and partners, including the health, rationalization, and migration of the integration portfolio.

Define the platform capabilities that should be built once and reused across customers, partners, and use cases.

Work with Partnerships to identify the partners that can most effectively expand MCP surface area and customer value, while deciding whether each use case belongs in MCP, an API, or a more custom integration.

Prioritize investments using customer evidence, revenue opportunity, partner readiness, technical leverage, and strategic differentiation.

Make clear build, buy, partner, and defer decisions.

Technical Discovery and Delivery

Work closely with Engineering and Data teams on APIs, data contracts, authentication, permissions, reliability, and developer experience.

Prototype integrations and ship targeted code when doing so accelerates learning, proves an approach, or unblocks delivery.

Create reusable patterns that let other G2 product teams safely expose their workflows through MCP without the Ecosystem PM owning every product-specific use case.

Translate technical constraints and architecture choices into clear customer and business tradeoffs.

Stay close to implementation details without losing accountability for the product strategy and outcome.

Data Solutions Product Strategy and Growth

Own the product roadmap supporting Data Solutions revenue and pipeline growth, aligning customer needs and market opportunities with new business, retention, and expansion priorities.

Build a deep understanding of how investors, financial institutions, AI labs, and other Data Solutions customers use G2 data, what drives its value, and where unmet needs create opportunities to grow.

Partner with Data Solutions commercial leaders to shape new offerings and improve existing ones, including recommendations on data coverage, packaging, pricing, delivery options, and customer experience.

Support priority customer opportunities through discovery, technical evaluation, and pilots, helping customers validate the value of G2 data and turning repeatable needs into scalable product capabilities.

Work with Engineering and Data teams to improve the quality, coverage, freshness, documentation, and delivery of data based on the needs of priority customer segments.

Partner with account teams to identify adoption barriers, renewal risks, and expansion opportunities, translating those insights into clear roadmap priorities.

Partnerships and Integrations

Turn repeated commercial and partner needs into productized capabilities rather than bespoke commitments.

Define product requirements and launch plans for partner-enabled MCP capabilities and integrations that materially improve customer workflows or expand G2’s distribution.

Lead the cleanup and migration of legacy integrations with clear ownership, customer communication, deprecation plans, and paths to the future-state architecture.

Product-Revenue Connectivity

Create a shared planning and feedback loop across Product, Revenue, Partnerships, Customer Success, and Marketing.

Give commercial teams a simple, accurate view of current capabilities, roadmap intent, dependencies, and tradeoffs.

Balance near-term customer and partner needs with a durable platform strategy.

Define the role’s product contribution across Data Solutions revenue and pipeline, customer MCP adoption and usage, partner-expanded MCP surface area, integration migration progress, reliability, retention, renewal influence, and expansion.

Minimum Qualifications:
We realize applying for jobs can feel daunting at times. As an organization, we are intentional about our DEI and philanthropic work (like our G2 Gives program) because it encourages us all to be better people.
About The Role
Buyers of business software increasingly need to know how well AI agents actually perform, not just what vendors claim. G2 is building independent, rigorous evaluations of AI agents on realistic business work, to help buyers choose with confidence and to set a trusted standard for the market. This is the most senior applied research role on that work, and it is hands-on. You will own the research agenda for how agents get tested, make sure the results mean what we say they mean, and turn them into product features and insights G2 publishes. You will work side by side with engineers and product managers, and your work will go into what G2 ships today, not only into longer-term research. You will also raise the bar around you. You will mentor engineers, data scientists and researchers working on evaluation, review their methodology, and make the standards you set repeatable by people who did not write them. The field is unsettled. Methods from academia, frontier labs and industry are still being worked out. Part of the job is staying on top of that work and bringing the ideas that matter into the product. The approaches that last are the simple, general ones that still hold up as models change.
In This Role, You Will:

Own the evaluation methodology. Set the standard for how G2 evaluates AI agents, defend it to skeptical audiences inside and outside the company, and keep it current as models change.

Contribute to today's product. Work closely with engineers and product managers to build and improve the evaluations behind G2's current offerings. Help scope features, turn methods into production-ready components, and iterate on what customers and the business need.

Design realistic evaluations. Build environments and task sets that reflect the work businesses actually give AI agents, and that stay useful as models improve.

Develop sound measurement. Create scoring approaches, including automated checks, LLM-based judges and human review, that are accurate, reproducible and hard to game. Measure consistency and reliability, not just average performance.

Validate the evaluations themselves. Audit tasks and graders, quantify noise, and establish when differences between agents are real.

Represent the results. Present and defend evaluation findings to buyers, customers and partners, and to the research community. Be the credible voice behind the numbers when the audience has a stake in the outcome.

Mentor and multiply. Manage and guide researchers and engineers on evaluation design and measurement, review their work, and write the documentation and standards that let the team run evaluations without you in the room.

Set and pursue a research agenda. Choose which evaluation problems matter most and carry long-running projects through to something that works, favoring simple ideas that generalize over ones tuned to this year's models. Directions include simulated-user and environment-based evaluation in the tradition of benchmarks like τ-bench; realistic user and persona simulation; LLM-as-judge reliability; evaluation of voice and multimodal agents; assessing agents in open-ended, long-horizon workflows; and protecting test sets from contamination.

Stay current. Follow new benchmarks, papers and evaluation practices across the research community. Translate them into product and roadmap decisions, and communicate them clearly to the team.

Share and collaborate. Write methodology documentation and, where appropriate, papers and public posts. Partner with data and go-to-market teams on how results are presented and used.

Minimum Qualifications:
We realize applying for jobs can feel daunting at times. Even if you don’t check all the boxes in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway.

Experience working with evaluation design or dataset curation in multi-agentic systems

5+ years building or evaluating ML systems, including hands-on work with LLMs or LLM-based agents.

2+ years experience managing small to medium teams preferred.

A graduate degree (MS or PhD) in machine learning, NLP, computer science, statistics or a related field, or equivalent applied research experience.

A track record of original ideas in machine learning, or clear improvements on existing ones, shown through first-author publications or projects you led end-to-end.

The ability to own a research agenda: pick the problems worth solving, and carry long-running projects without being directed.

A track record of shipping ML work in a product setting, working closely with engineers and product managers.

Experience setting technical direction for others: mentoring researchers or engineers, reviewing methodology, and raising the quality of work you did not do yourself.

Familiarity with how AI systems are benchmarked, and a clear view of how benchmark scores can mislead.

Sound statistical judgment: experimental design, variance, significance and agreement between human and automated raters.

Good judgment about trade-offs, including when a practical solution now serves customers better than a more complete one later.

Clear writing, and the ability to explain methodology to non-specialists and to defend it to skeptical audiences.

What Can Help Your Application Stand Out:

Research experience in agent evaluation, user simulation, or human and AI-based judging.

Experience with conversational, voice, retrieval-based or tool-using AI systems.

Contributions to open-source evaluation tools or public leaderboards.

Familiarity with business software workflows.

A considered view on the effects of AI technology on the people and markets it reaches.

Publications at ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, COLM or similar venues.

Our Commitment to Inclusivity and DiversityAt G2, we are committed to creating an inclusive and diverse environment where people of every background can thrive and feel welcome.
