Like Google's own ambitions, the work of a Software Engineer goes beyond just Search. Software Engineering Managers have not only the technical expertise to take on and provide technical leadership to major projects, but also manage a team of Engineers. You not only optimize your own code but make sure Engineers are able to optimize theirs. As a Software Engineering Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. Teams work all across the company, in areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, user interface design; the list goes on and is growing every day. Operating with scale and speed, our exceptional software engineers are just getting started -- and as a manager, you guide the way. With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally. Artificial intelligence will be one of humanity’s most transformative inventions. At Google DeepMind, we are a pioneering AI lab with exceptional interdisciplinary teams focused on advancing AI development to solve complex global challenges and accelerate high-quality product innovation for billions of users. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, ensuring safety and ethics are always our highest priority. We are pushing the boundaries across multiple domains.

Senior Software Engineer, Gemini Deployment and Performance, DeepMind

At DeepMind our mission is to build the world's first general-purpose learning agent. Central to this mission is the complex task of measuring the intelligence of our prototypes. As a Software Engineer, you will be working with the cutting edge AI agents developed by our exceptional team of Machine Learning and Neuroscience research scientists. Your responsibilities will include everything from creating systems for agent testing using 2D and 3D games to developing test problems within physics simulators. You will create graphical visualization of results, build competitive agent leaderboards and test new algorithms on robots. To succeed in this role you will need to have a strong foundation in software engineering and enjoy working on a wide range of challenging problems within a mission-driven team. As an Inference Performance Engineer, you will push the boundaries of AI model execution at scale. In this role, you will be at the forefront of making large-scale AI inference faster, cheaper, and more efficient. You will analyze the entire inference stack to identify critical bottlenecks and drive systemic improvements. By combining deep systems profiling, benchmarking, and first-principles problem solving, your work will directly maximize hardware throughput, reduce cost-to-serve, and empower our cross-functional teams to make data-driven capacity and latency tradeoffs.

At Google, we put our users first. The world is always changing, so we need Product Managers who are continuously adapting and excited to work on products that affect millions of people every day. In this role, you will work cross-functionally to guide products from conception to launch by connecting the technical and business worlds. You can break down complex problems into steps that drive product development. One of the many reasons Google consistently brings innovative, world-changing products to market is because of the collaborative work we do in Product Management. Our team works closely with creative engineers, designers, marketers, etc. to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users. In this role, you will own the product strategy for Frontier Model Protection. As foundation models achieve reasoning and multimodal capabilities, safeguarding our innovations against model extraction, unauthorized distillation, and intellectual property theft is a priority for national security and safety. You will set the goal, governance, and defense architectures that keep our models resilient. The "product" is the model protection posture and runtime defense suite that safeguards Google DeepMind’s research assets while balancing business growth and developer innovation. You will lead through strategy, executive alignment, and measurement. You will define how to protect model intelligence, and own trade-offs between defense posture, utility, developer experience, and commercial momentum. You will represent Google DeepMind externally—shaping safety strategies with government stakeholders and peer labs to establish safety benchmarks and evaluation standards. Our global teams offer diverse learning opportunities and varied career pathways for those driven to achieve exceptional results through collective effort.

Group Product Manager, Frontier Model Protection, DeepMind

The GeminiApp organization is building a universal assistant. One that is capable of helping people, enabling them to do new things. It is designed to empower users, understanding their goals and unique context, and working in the background using tools, involving users only when necessary. It will minimize distractions, reduce anxiety, and be available across multiple devices. Within the GeminiApp organization, the Gemini Everywhere team is focused on making the Gemini experience ambient across all surfaces. By deeply embedding Gemini into the Android OS, and the Chrome platform, we are able to meet users where they are, allowing them to invoke their Gemini assistant without being distracted from their current task. If we do this well, we will turn Gemini into a shapeshifting intelligence that flows effortlessly alongside the user—shrinking for a glance, expanding for depth, and holding the context through every user interaction. You will work on a team deeply rooted in solving users problems with cutting edge AI solutions. You will navigate ambiguity to define and build consumer-facing products and features, working across the stack in Android, iOS, Web, or backend services. You will have a passion for building crafted frontend experiences, and well designed, scalable backend services. The role requires extensive cross-functional collaboration both internally and across Google Product Areas (PAs) with a heavy emphasis on Android and Chrome partnerships. Artificial intelligence will be one of humanity’s most transformative inventions.
